Morgan Stanley Investment Management (Japan) To Appoint Hiroyuki Shimizu as President

Tokyo-

Morgan Stanley (MYSE: MS) today announced that Hiroyuki Shimizu will be appointed President and Representative Director of Morgan Stanley Investment Management (Japan) Co., Ltd. as of October 1, 2016. Yoshinobu Kou, currently President of the company, will become Chairman.

Mr. Shimizu joins Morgan Stanley from KKR where he served as CEO of KKR Capital Markets LLC., responsible for relationship management and marketing a broad spectrum of alternative investment products. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in Japan, having held senior roles in its Investment Banking Division and Special Situations Group.

“This appointment reflects our commitment to expanding the leadership team in Japan, which is a strategically important market for Morgan Stanley,” said Jonathan B. Kindred, President and CEO of Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd. “Mr. Shimizu’s wealth of expertise and leadership experience will bring us an additional level of capability, and bolster our investment management franchise in Japan.”
