Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Hosts a Series of Women’s Leadership Receptions

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney announced today that it will be hosting a series of Women’s Leadership receptions in Boston, Atlanta, Cleveland, Palo Alto and Birmingham.

The events listed below, which are open to the public with advance registration, will feature a series of speakers who focus on the women’s market, including Carla Harris, Managing Director, Emerging Manager Platform, Morgan Stanley Investment Management and author of Expect to Win, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran and Kathleen Logan, Author, Second Blooming for Women.

“These events are part of our women’s leadership series focusing on women and business,” said Sandra Richards, Business Development Officer, who leads the business development initiative focused on the diverse and multicultural markets for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  “We will continue to host these types of events across the country as part of our broad effort to embrace the business development opportunities that exist in this and other diverse markets.”

As Head of the Emerging Manager Platform, Carla Harris and her team seek to identify and provide capital, as well as strategic advice and infrastructure solutions, to emerging asset managers, with a specific emphasis on minority and women-owned asset managers.  Ms. Harris also acts as Chair of the Board of the Morgan Stanley Foundation.  She is also author of Expect To Win: Proven Strategies of Success from a Wall Street Vet (Hudson Press).

Barbara Corcoran is founder of The Corcoran Group.  She is currently the real estate contributor for NBC’s “TODAY” Show, where she comments weekly on trends in the real estate market.  Ms. Corcoran is an investor/shark on ABC’s reality hit “Shark Tank” and is also the author of Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business (Portfolio Trade).

Kathleen Logan is an active speaker, known for her informative and engaging style.  She is the author of Second Blooming for Women: Growing a Life That Matters After Fifty, which emphasizes that this is a wonderful time for women over fifty, but while growing older, women at this stage should also grow bolder.
