Morgan Stanley Partnered with Taproot Foundation to Host Fifth ScopeAthon with 10 Non-Profits

Dec 6, 2018

Morgan Stanley employees have donated over 1,000 hours of time to nonprofits during ScopeAthon events this year

New York —

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) today announced 44 employees participated in the firm’s fifth ScopeAthon event this year to help 10 nonprofits build actionable plans to tackle a mission-critical challenge.

This ScopeAthon was a half-day, pro bono consulting event, pairing teams of Morgan Stanley employees with local nonprofit organizations. The participating nonprofits presented an organizational challenge currently facing their group and were matched with teams of employees who leveraged their skillsets to help develop an informed, detailed scope of work with actionable next steps for the nonprofit to overcome the issue.

During Morgan Stanley’s five ScopeAthons this year, over 250 Morgan Stanley employees were engaged to work on a combined 56 projects, donating over 1,000 hours of their time. Yesterday’s event brings our total amount of employee donated professional services to over $2.3 million in 2018.

“We are excited to host these 10 nonprofits at our 5th ScopeAthon event alongside the Taproot Foundation to help them tackle challenges that obstruct their ability to achieve their mission,” said Joan Steinberg, Morgan Stanley’s Global Head of Philanthropy. “Morgan Stanley is committed to giving back and pro-bono events, such as ScopeAthons, that provide a powerful opportunity to engage our employees’ talents and skillsets to help drive meaningful impact in our communities.”

The 10 nonprofits that participated in yesterday’s ScopeAthon event with Taproot include:

·         A Better Chance

·         Children’s Aid

·         Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

·         Encore Community Services

·         Good Shepherd Services

·         Hudson River Park Friends

·         Legal Outreach

·         PowerMyLearning

·         Volunteer New York

·         York Street Project

The event took place at Morgan Stanley headquarters on December 5, 2018.

ScopeAthons are part of Morgan Stanley’s broader pro bono initiative and expands upon the success of our annual Strategy Challenge.
