Morgan Stanley Holds 10th Annual CTO Summit

Jun 16, 2010

Signature Event Connects Early-Stage and Established Technology Firms with IT Leaders in Financial Services

New York —

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) will hold its 10th annual Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Summit and Tech Week June 14-18 in Palo Alto, California.  This invitation-only event convenes leading venture capitalists, executives from established and emerging technology companies, and technologists from Morgan Stanley's IT organization for an intensive week of solution briefings, strategy presentations and networking...

Keynote speakers David Reilly, Global CIO of Enterprise Infrastructure, Morgan Stanley, and Drew Guevara, Managing Director of Technology Banking, Morgan Stanley, will provide an overview of Morgan Stanley's technology strategy and future needs, and the technology market overall.  In addition, 36 technology executives from primarily early-stage companies will offer in-depth briefings on their solutions and services during the event.

Morgan Stanley launched the CTO Summit in 2001 and has enjoyed great success from sustained investment in the program throughout the economic cycle.  The Firm uses the CTO Summit to engage with prospective partners who are developing world-class technology solutions and to help young companies extend their enterprise reach.

"Our CTO Summit represents a unique opportunity to build relationships with venture capitalists and technology executives," said Enterprise Infrastructure CIO David Reilly.  "We view the summit as a critical tool for identifying potential clients and business partners and learning about the best new technologies in the marketplace."

Morgan Stanley has met with more than 450 emerging technology companies during the ten-year history of the CTO Summit.  To date, the Firm has contracted with 11 percent of presenting companies - an impressive ratio given that the CTO Summit often marks the first time Morgan Stanley executives meet with early-stage companies.  The Firm invites just 36 companies to present each year from several hundred applicants and has contracted with such industry leaders as Google, Clearcube, VMware, and Spinnaker early in their development.

Said Ned Hooper, Cisco's Chief Strategy Officer, "I've attended Morgan Stanley's CTO Summit many times over the years in my role at Cisco.  It's a fantastic place to interact with small, innovative companies, and to engage with industry peers and the Morgan Stanley team in a transformational way."
