Matt Berke is the Chief Operating Officer for the Institutional Securities Group (ISG) at Morgan Stanley. He is a member of the Firm’s Operating and Management Committees, Firm Risk Committee, ISG Operating Committee, Fixed Income Operating Committee and Equity Operating Committee.
In his ISG COO role, Mr. Berke works in partnership with senior management across Investment Banking, Equities, Fixed Income, Global Capital Markets and Research on all aspects of strategy, risk, finance, technology, legal and regulatory compliance and business unit controls. Prior to his ISG COO role, Mr. Berke was the COO for Sales & Trading, and before that was the COO and Head of Business Unit Risk Management for Institutional Equity.
Mr. Berke joined Morgan Stanley in 1994. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was an associate at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett specializing in corporate finance, banking and mergers and acquisitions.
He graduated from Cornell University and the University of Michigan Law School. He is a Director of Advocates for Children of New York, a not‐for‐profit organization working on behalf of children who are at greatest risk for school‐based discrimination and/or academic failure.
