Alicja Kornasiewicz joins Morgan Stanley as a Senior Adviser in Poland and CEE

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) announced today that Alicja Kornasiewicz has joined the firm as a Senior Adviser in investment banking covering Poland and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), with immediate effect.

She brings with her over 30 years of experience in European banking and corporate finance across CEE. Most recently she was chief executive officer of Bank Pekao SA. Previously, she was head of emerging European countries investment banking at Unicredit Group and a member of the Executive Committee at the bank’s Markets & Investment Banking Division.

Alicja also served as Secretary of State in the Polish Ministry of the Treasury from 1997 to 2000. Prior to that she worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as a senior banker in London.

Alicja will be based in Morgan Stanley’s Warsaw office, which opened in October 2010. She will report to Ronnie Golan, Head of Investment Banking coverage for Israel, Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.

Alicja Kornasiewicz

Alicja Kornasiewicz has a wide ranging portfolio of executive and non-executive experience, as well as government roles, at the highest level in Poland and the CEE region, including:

  • 2010-2011 President, CEO, Bank Pekao SA
  • 2008-2010 CEO, Unicredit CAIB, Vienna
  • 2000-2010 CEO, Creditanstalt and then Unicredit CAIB, Poland
  • 1997-2000 Secretary of State, First Deputy Minister, Ministry of the State Treasury of the Republic of Poland
  • 1993-1997 Head of Warsaw office and Senior Banker in London, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Alicja graduated from the Central School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw (presently the Warsaw School of Economics), with a Masters degree in Finance and received a PhD degree from The Poznań University of Economics. She has also completed Banking and Finance courses at The Centre for High Performance Development in London and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School and of Executive and Advanced Management Programmes at INSEAD. Alicja is a qualified auditor and a member of the National Chamber of Statutory Auditors.

Ronnie Golan

Ronnie Golan, is Head of Investment Banking and Global Capital Markets coverage for Israel, Central and Eastern Europe, and Africa. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1997. Ronnie received his Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
