John Klopp is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, Chairman of Global Real Assets and a member of the Morgan Stanley Investment Management Operating Committee. John joined Morgan Stanley in 2010, served as Co-Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Head of the Americas for MSREI until early 2016, and served as Head of Global Real Assets from early 2016 until the end of 2025. He has over 47 years of investing experience. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, John was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Trust, Inc., a publicly-traded real estate finance and investment management company that he co-founded. From 1989 until 1997, John was the founder and Managing Partner of Victor Capital Group, L.P. John had previously served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Chemical Realty Corporation, the real estate merchant banking arm of Chemical Bank.
John serves as the chair of Columbia Business School’s Real Estate Advisory Committee and is an active member of various real estate organizations including the Pension Real Estate Association. He received a B.A. in economics from Tufts University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Real Estate from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
