Biography

Toru Bando is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, Co-Head of MSREI and Co-Head of NHREF. He is also a member of the Morgan Stanley Investment Management Operating Committee. Toru joined Morgan Stanley in 1999 and was named Head of MSREI Asia in 2015, Co-Head of NHREF in 2019, Chief Investment Officer of MSREI in 2022 and Co-Head of MSREI in 2026. Toru is responsible for jointly leading the global private real estate investing business which currently manages $55 billion of gross real estate assets worldwide on behalf of its clients, in addition to overseeing the global value-add / opportunistic fund series. He has over 27 years of investing experience across multiple geographies and asset classes. Toru received a B.A. in Mathematics from Tufts University.
