Step In, Step Up Foundations In Finance is Morgan Stanleys development Programme aimed at identifying undiscovered talent whilst supporting social mobility and kick starting the careers of Year 13 students who are interested in the industry and/or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) opportunities at Morgan Stanley. Were looking for diverse and underrepresented voices from less privileged backgrounds who are keen to learn about our industry and release their potential. Applicants dont need any experience, just a passion and eagerness to learn about the world of Finance. Through a 4 day programme of workshops, students will gain insights into a number of different areas, including Technology, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets and Sales, Trading & Research. Students will have the opportunity to delve into our culture and quiz employees through mentoring, networking, technical and professional skills training and panel sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to be considered for a place for the 2026 Investment Banking & Global Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, Research, Investment Management OR Technology Spring Insight programme. Those who join a Spring Insight programme will also gain the opportunity to be considered for an internship the following year and a Future Generation Scholarship. This program will run from 26th August - 29th August 2025. Please pay particular attention to the eligibility criteria below: Students applying for Foundations in Finance must meet the following criteria: Be a Year 13 student and have a university offer to start an undergraduate course at a UK university in Autumn of 2025 On your CV, please list your confirmed university offers and each of your GCSE & A-Level grades or equivalents. Have always attended, a state-funded, non-fee-paying school/college And fulfil one of the below criteria: Have been in receipt of Free School Meals Have received household income support Have experienced time in local authority care Have or have had refugee status Have dependents or caring responsibilities Any other indicators of socio-economic or personal disadvantage or a combination of these attributes, as identified within the contextual recruitment application form Please note, Morgan Stanley can support with travel and accommodation requests for the programme. Then this tailored program is for you From the moment you join the 10-12 week Technology Summer Analyst Program in June, you will be supported by experienced and welcoming colleagues to help you thrive. You will gain valuable hands-on experience with a multitude of technologies and disciplines by being placed into either the Application Development or Cybersecurity team. Internship Program Realize your full potential at Morgan Stanley through our campus programs. Summer Analysts begin with a one-day orientation where they are introduced to the Firm's businesses and learn what it is like to be an employee at Morgan Stanley, followed by direct placement into their teams. In addition to working on a live project, program highlights include personalized mentoring, technical demonstrations, team-building opportunities, social events and participation in the Firms community service initiatives. The program is designed to equip you with the necessary skills to make real-world impact and a difference for the Firm and our clients. When you join your team, you become a vital and integral part of the equation to success. Roles and Responsibilities As a Summer Analyst, you will be placed into one of the following teams. Team allocations will be determined based on a mutual fit, taking into consideration your interest and skill set, business needs and management decision. Application Development Teams (Institutional Securities Technology): Our development teams design, develop, maintain and protect applications used by our business units to deliver first-class business in a first-class way for our clients. Developers build and make system design decisions, then integrate, test and deploy those applications into production. Developing high-performing, low-latency electronic trading systems, and evolving complex workflows and life-cycle management capabilities are just some of the projects available for developers. Cybersecurity Teams (Cyber Data Risk & Resilience): Cybersecurity teams mission is to proactively deliver first-line defenses to manage cyber and fraud risks to our technology, operations and information through risk identification, control management and assurance. Our teams deliver programs that protect and enable the business, ensure secure delivery of services to clients, adjust to address the risks presented by an evolving threat landscape and meet regulatory expectations. Qualifications and Skills You are pursuing an undergraduate Bachelors or Master's degree or Doctorates degree with a graduation date between October 2026 and July 2027, such as major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Electrical Engineering, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering or other related technical majors. Excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork, analytical skills and possess can-do attitude. Familiar in any one of the programming languages included but not limited to C, C++, Java, C, Python would be an advantage. Good technical skills, including a strong understanding of Linux /Unix and Windows, as well as experience in object-oriented development, good comprehension of data structures, algorithms and complexity theory, strong database and scripting skills. Experience in the financial services sector is not required. Fluency in English required.
