A DAY IN THE LIFE

The best part of my summer experience at Morgan Stanley was…
being challenged and learning so much so quickly! I had amazing exposure to the Firm’s decision-making processes. In school, I was taught to think analytically and with structure. However, my experience here challenged me to reinvent how I think and learn, adapt to different situations and find the best solution.

I selected Firm Strategy & Execution…
to build skills in investment banking and strategic consulting. I learned the fundamentals of company valuation, deal sourcing, structuring and execution, due diligence, negotiations and business integration. I also participated in long-term strategy projects and quick-turn modeling and valuations.

As a Strategy & Execution Summer Analyst…
a strong sense of commitment, creativity, and attention to detail are important. I learned basic corporate finance and accounting, as well as long-term-strategy setting and individual business valuation. I gained an in-depth understanding of how Morgan Stanley operates and how senior management adapts the firm's strategy in order to respond to a volatile business environment.

A typical day…
included producing and editing presentation decks and analytical components for my projects. I performed financial analyses, company valuations and due diligence, assessed market trends and competitive landscapes, evaluated the business implications of regulatory changes, and contributed materials for discussions with senior management and the Board of Directors.
