Bank Resource Management

Summer Analyst Program

A DAY IN THE LIFE

I selected Bank Resource Management because…
This department provides exposure to client relationships, financial markets and trading, and focuses on both the market and funding sides of the business.

As a Bank Resource Management Summer Analyst…
I needed excellent communication skills and to learn quickly. I had a summer-long project working with various BRM representatives, collecting information to analyze historical trade trends, examining client behavior and updating models to  identify new market opportunities globally. I managed a stock portfolio in a trading simulation that I presented to management at the end of the summer.

A typical day…
started by catching up on news and key market updates. I networked and shadowed people on the desk and managed borrowing, book management and data collection. After the market closed, I would catch up with my manager and mentor, attend management-led Q&As and network with BRM and other departments at Summer Analyst events.

The best part of my summer experience at Morgan Stanley was…
being able to rotate to different desks on the fast-paced trading floor. I also loved gaining exposure to both the fixed income and institutional equity business. Everyone I worked with was willing to help and answer my questions, no matter how basic.
