A DAY IN THE LIFE
I selected Public Finance...
to solve complex problems and understand how investment banking can serve the
public good.
As a Public Finance Analyst...
I collaborate with people firmwide—in capital markets, syndicate, derivatives
and other businesses, as well as with the rating agencies, auditors and other
market participants. I need to use my creative and quantitative thinking skills
and to communicate effectively. I make frequent use of my independent
judgment and decision making skills in advancing the department’s goals.
I've learned complex modeling and valuations and also how to approach potential
clients and execute the deals.
A typical day...
involves collaborating with colleagues in the Public Finance Department, including
developing structure and cash flow models, preparing presentation materials
and contributing ideas for potential and existing clients. As a new deal heats
up, the full team pitches in to ensure the project's successful completion
and my workload may increase.
The best part of my job is...
how dynamic it is. Each client and each deal brings new challenges, and I learn
something new from everyone I encounter.
Many Public Finance Analysts go on to...
continue their career in Public Finance, while others may choose business school.
