A DAY IN THE LIFE

I chose Global Capital Markets…
because of the people. The team was focused on my development from the beginning and leveraged my strengths. Senior managers treated me like an equal, while understanding I was a student eager to learn.

As a Global Capital Markets Summer Analyst…
I got a peek into the life of a full-time analyst. I had to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and absorb and analyze data quickly.

A typical day…
didn’t exist—it was constantly changing in reaction to the markets. I spent   mornings learning market activity and checking news on clients I covered. Late morning and afternoon I joined calls in which we briefed clients on the current state of the markets and provided indicative pricing terms. I conducted financial analyses and worked on presentation materials for meetings with clients where we discussed alternatives for their funding needs. In addition, I attended numerous senior-management-led events about their views and experiences.

The best part of my summer experience at Morgan Stanley was…
the amount of responsibility I was given from the start. I worked on live deals, talked directly with clients and compiled presentation materials. The atmosphere and culture was very exciting and collegiate. It was a great opportunity to learn from the best.
