A DAY IN THE LIFE
I chose to start my career in Financial Services because...
I'm fascinated by the financial markets and enjoy developing analytic solutions
to business problems.
I selected Morgan Stanley Strats & Modeling (MSSM) because...
of Morgan Stanley's reputation, the quality of the people and the nature of
my job; Morgan Stanley was at the top on all counts.
As an MSSM Analyst...
analytical, technical, and fundamental math and software development skills
were important from day one, but I learned the financial product knowledge
I needed to advise my clients on the job.
My role on the team is...
to monitor, interpret, and explain the daily risk and profit & loss (P&L)
statement. I need to understand and maintain the relevant mathematical models
and work on designing and developing new risk measures and changes in the models.
A typical day...
starts by preparing for the day's trading activities. I tackle issues that
arise during the day in my afternoons and speak with traders, developers, auditors
and other Strats throughout the day. After the markets close, I work on longer-term
projects and strategies.
The best part of my job is...
having a critical role on some very important projects. Challenges arise daily,
so using my judgment to develop solutions is often critical to a project's
success. I also enjoy the opportunity to work with different Morgan Stanley desks
around the world.
