A DAY IN THE LIFE
Before business school, I worked…
on the buy side. I wanted to broaden my skills at a diversified investment bank
and, even though I started my career in a different area, Morgan Stanley's training
program got me quickly up to speed.
I chose Morgan Stanley to launch my postgraduate career because…
I wanted to begin my career at a premier, global firm. I was seeking access
to industry leaders and to new ideas and situations. Like me, most people I
worked with began their careers at—and today remain with—Morgan
Stanley; this is a Wall Street rarity and speaks volumes.
As a Global Capital Markets Summer Associate…
it was important to take an active role and be comfortable with analysis and
problem solving. I learned to be relentless in finding the answers and finishing
tough, complicated tasks.
My role on the team…
varied from project to project. I analyzed a company's capital structure and
figured out a way for it to refinance and maintain flexibility, talked with
the syndicate desk to vet an idea and went to client meetings to discuss a
new idea, introduce a new deal to the sales force or negotiate a structure
for an in-progress deal.
The best part of my summer experience at Morgan Stanley was…
attending a breakfast with senior members of the firm; they each revealed something unique
about themselves. At my table alone we had an X Games snowboarder and a professional
water skier!
