Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced that it has appointed Stephen Roach as Asia Chairman.  Mr. Roach, who currently serves as Chief Economist of Morgan Stanley, will relinquish this responsibility and assume his new role in June, with relocation to Hong Kong in September.

Commenting on the new appointment, John J. Mack, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley, said, “Steve has been widely recognized as one of Wall Street’s most influential economists and a trusted advisor for our clients.  He is an intellectual leader on many global economic issues, including those related to China.  He will bring a combination of seniority, strategic thinking, and local knowledge to this important role.”
