Showcases seven remarkable philanthropists making a significant difference in the world

New York —

Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management today announced the launch of its new coffee table book If...Stories of Philanthropy, a publication that illustrates the extraordinary power of philanthropy through the stories of seven remarkable philanthropic clients.

From empowering women in developing countries to fighting addiction here in the United States, the philanthropists featured in the book are changing the world one initiative at a time. Showcased clients include humanitarians Christy Turlington Burns, founder of Every Mother Counts; Mary Fisher, founder of 100 Good Deeds; Molly Gochman, ambassador to The Polaris Project; Terry Lazin, founder of The Lazin Animal Foundation; Francine LeFrak, founder of Same Sky; Gary Mendell, founder of Shatterproof; and Elizabeth Carlock and Kevin Phillips; Executive Director and CEO, respectively, of The Phillips Foundation.

According to Melanie Schnoll Begun, Managing Director and Head of Philanthropy Management at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, “Our clients are our biggest inspiration. Each and every one of them wants to be an agent of change, and we are proud to help them achieve that goal.”

If...Stories of Philanthropy, celebrates some of our most remarkable game changers. It illustrates how a group of extremely accomplished clients identified their charitable intentions and transformed them into exceptional institutions that impact the lives of thousands,” said Vince Lumia, Managing Director and Head of Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management.

Featured client Christy Turlington Burns, who founded Every Mother Counts, which aims to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, said, “Every day 800 women die from preventable maternal deaths around the world. We are educating people about the challenges and the solutions, and also providing them with opportunities to engage in meaningful ways.” Christy has been working with Morgan Stanley Philanthropy Management since the inception of Every Mother Counts and with the Philanthropy Management team’s advice on nonprofit governance and management, her organization has evolved into a leading authority on maternal health initiatives.

“Morgan Stanley is committed to helping our nonprofit clients create and strategically grow their charitable programs,” said Steven Rosandich, Vice President, Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, member of the Philanthropy Management team and the book’s co-editor. “One of the most exciting ways we are doing this is by highlighting their remarkable stories and achievements in If...Stories of Philanthropy.”
