Placement and duration

The Investment Management Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program consisting of one week of training and nine weeks working within a specific IM team. The Summer Analyst position is group-specific and offers extended are for the following functional areas - Investing, Client Engagement, or Risk & Analysis. The majority of our opportunities are in our New York offices, but there are select positions in San Francisco and West Conshohocken. During the 10-week program, Summer Analysts experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley by performing a role similar to a Full-Time Analyst.

The Private Equity Fund of Funds team is the leading alternative asset manager investing across a broad range of geographies, industries, and strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include working on several deal teams with senior level professionals along with conducting market and financial due diligence on various private equity opportunities. 

Training program

Morgan Stanley Investment Managements training program consists of curriculum designed to equip Summer Analysts with the fundamental skills they need to be successful in IM. The Program is one weeklong and includes a Firmwide orientation, business overviews, professional development, technical training and networking events. A speaker series is also a part of the overall training and is run throughout the duration of the Program.

Responsibilities

  • Working on live deals with the investment team, which typically consists of 4 to 5 person deal teams.
  • Handling investment analysis, research, investment process management, transaction structuring, and deal execution.
  • Performing financial analyses in support of the investment process (comparable company valuation analyses, LBO model construction, and projected return sensitivity analyses).
  • Conducting research on a wide range of geographies, industries, companies, and macroeconomic trends.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You are pursuing a Bachelor's degree and will graduate between December 2021 and June 2022.
  • You have outstanding analytical and quantitative skills.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You are a strong team player; ability to collaborate with colleagues across IM and the broader organization. 
  • You are a self-starter with the ability to work independently. 
  • You are driven, highly motivated and results-focused. 
  • You have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • You are detail oriented and have the ability to work efficiently within tight time constraints.
