The Investment Management Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program consisting of one week of training with all Investment Management Summer Analysts and nine weeks working within a specific group. During the 10-week program, Summer Analysts experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley by performing a role similar to a Full-Time Analyst.

Training program

The training program consists of a curriculum designed to equip Summer Analysts with the fundamental skills needed in order to be successful in IM. The program is one week long and includes a Firm-wide orientation, business overviews, professional development, technical training and networking events. A speaker series is also a part of training, and runs throughout the 10 week program.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Global Client Engagement (Global Sales & Distribution & Marketing), Distribution Management seeks to drive increased penetration and distribution of MSIM products, solutions and capabilities, utilizing data and analytics, through, but not limited to:

  • Planning and Budgeting: Development and execution of well-defined client, market, channel and product distribution strategies informed by industry analysis and periodic client demand assessments. Fostering a culture of accountability through creation of an enhanced client, market and product planning and budgeting process.
  • Execution and Transparency: Driving increased transparency with respect to client engagement activities undertaken by Global Sales & Distribution and investment team professionals through CRM enhancements, usage protocols and comprehensive reporting. Developing resources, forums and controls for Global Sales & Distribution and investment team professionals to enhance product knowledge and ensure consistent sales practices.
  • Accountability and Continuous Improvement: Review of capital raising activity relative to budgets at a regional, channel and product level. Ongoing review and enhancement of product, market and channel distribution strategies. Ongoing review and refinement of client segmentation and client plans.

Role Description: Distribution Management is looking for a Summer Analyst to support its growing sales effort by:

  • Creating analyses and presentations relating to business goals, initiatives, and progress versus benchmarks
  • Understanding IM’s business and specific channel needs to most effectively respond to requests
  • Maintaining team information in CRM systems and preparing analytical reports for senior management
  • Running various daily and ad hoc reports to assist senior management in making strategic decisions

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • Current Junior (class of 2021) in a 4 year bachelor’s degree program with superior academic performance
  • Demonstrated interest in global financial markets
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once and meet associated deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in financial services industry preferred
