The Office of the COO is engaged in delivering operational support and excellence to our investment teams, sales and marketing organization, and most importantly our clients throughout the world. The platform is organized to provide support to both our public and private markets businesses and is well positioned to respond to a rapidly shifting regulatory landscape, to improve ownership of end-to-end functions in a shared services organization and to further capitalize on investments in technology and systems. The platform is segmented into the following critical functions:

  • Risk & Performance Attribution
  • Trading
  • Valuation
  • Client Onboarding
  • Data Strategy
  • Fund Governance & Regulatory Services

Training Program

Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s training program consists of a curriculum designed to equip Summer Analysts with the fundamental skills they need in order to be successful. The program is one week long and includes a Firmwide orientation, business overviews, professional development, technical training and networking events. A speaker series is also a part of the overall training and is run throughout the duration of the program.


Summer Analyst responsibilities will vary based upon group placement.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • Current Junior in a 4 year bachelor’s degree program with superior academic performance
  • Strong interest in the financial services or management consulting industry
  • Strong track record of academic excellence and achievement
  • Well-rounded with outstanding organizational and analytical capabilities
  • Enthusiastic with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to summarize complex problems and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity
  • Excellent presentation skills including verbal and written communication
  • Commitment to deliver the highest quality work product with close attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently plan for various short- and long-term deliverables
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
