Placement and duration

The Fixed Income Research Full-time Analyst Program begins in mid-July with direct placement on of our desks,  covering foreign exchange, sovereign bonds,  or corporate debt or emerging markets. With a flat structure and an open trading floor, the Analyst Program includes the opportunity to collaborate and learn from experienced professionals and to participate in practical workshops, a structured mentor-and-buddy program and organised social events.

Training program

Analysts begin with the Firmwide Institutional Securities training program in London with peers from Institutional Equity,  Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Equity Research, Investment Management and Private Wealth Management. The training covers financial modelling and capital markets, and enables Analysts to gain a broad understanding of each business in the Institutional Securities Group. Analysts then undertake the Sales & Trading specific training, which generally consists of intensive IT training, Excel and desk-specific applications, practical skills sessions, regulatory examinations and FCA preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop investment recommendations on Fixed Income Securities through the study of market fundamentals, technical and quantitative research.
  • Create models to quickly identify major disconnects across-asset classes.
  • Contribute to the writing of reports for our clients that are clear, insightful and help their investment process.
  •  Maintain constant dialogue with our colleagues in sales and trading discussing market colour and the impact of incoming data on our published view

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  •  You are graduating in 2018 or 2019 with either an undergraduate or Master’s degree from any degree discipline. A financial discipline is not essential, but you must have a strong interest in economics and the financial markets, with excellent analytical skills.
  • You possess intellectual curiosity, focus and creativity, and have a keen research instinct with creative problem-solving abilities.
  • You show initiative and are also able to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  •  You have an analytical approach to tasks, understand fundamentals of econometrics and are willing to learn to use or have some existing experience with statistical packages: e.g., Eviews, Matlab, R, Stata.
  •  You are open to learning or have some experience with programming languages.
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  •  You have an entrepreneurial spirit, and are driven to deliver results.
  • You are committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
