Placement and duration

Associates are given a foundation to launch a successful career in our Investment Banking Division (IBD). You will work alongside senior-level financial and strategic decision-makers at some of the world’s largest corporations, and will gain experience in helping smaller, entrepreneurial and dynamic firms that are primed for growth. Given the breadth of our IBD businesses in Asia Pacific, Associates have the opportunity to work on transactions with clients in a variety of locations throughout the region.

Training program

IBD first-year Associates begin with an intensive training program, featuring presentations from senior internal speakers and industry experts typically covering subjects such as Mergers and Acquisitions processes, Financing Solutions, Capital Structure and Financial Statement Analysis.

Associates are assigned to a specific country, industry or product group to gain in-depth exposure. Your projects may involve a merger, an IPO or financing a new venture. You may lead a competitive auction process to divest a business, identify potential strategic acquisitions targets, and organize a roadshow for potential investors in a major new equity offering or advise your team on how to tackle a complex piece of analysis. The roles and responsibilities vary by department, but may include:

  • Managing and assisting in the execution of corporate finance transactions.
  • Performing financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research.
  • Contributing to team discussions and client meetings.
  • Providing rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients.
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations in a clear and compelling manner.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You are an MBA student in your final year of study with outstanding academic standing.
  • You are a team player with a strong work ethic who thrives with confidence in intellectual challenges.
  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to grasp complex data, manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions.
  • You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to form effective working relationships through collaboration, strive for excellence and exhibit the highest ethical standards.
  • Fluency in English is required. Asian languages are preferred.
