Placement and duration

The Institutional Equity Full-time Analyst Program begins in mid-July with direct placement on a desk. The flat structure and open trading floor ensure that Analysts collaborate with and learn from some of the most successful professionals in the industry. The Program also includes the opportunity to participate in practical workshops, a structured mentor-and-buddy system and organised social events.

Training program

Training begins with the Firmwide Institutional Securities Training Program in London with peers from Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Equity Research, Investment Management and Private Wealth Management. The training covers financial modelling and capital markets. Analysts then undertake the Sales & Trading specific training that consists of intensive IT training, Excel and desk-specific applications, practical skills sessions and regulatory exam Financial Services Authority (FSA) preparation.

Responsibilities

Analysts are hired directly to a desk within Fixed income and begin the training program in mid-July. Roles available in the program include:

  • Salespeople who manage client relationships by communicating value-added ideas to their clients based on their own opinions and the Firm's research.
  • Traders who provide liquidity for our clients and manage the Firm's residual risk positions.
  • Sales Traders who interact with the trading desks of our clients, giving market insight and facilitating customer orders.
  • Structured Product Groups who integrate the structuring, marketing and origination of products such as structured interest rates, credit derivatives and asset-backed securities.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You have an outstanding academic record with a minimum 2.1 honours degree or equivalent and a keen interest in the financial markets. Candidates from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
  • You have excellent communication, interpersonal and client-service skills.
  • You are a team player who excels in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • You have strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to summarise complex business problems and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity.
