Placement and duration

The Full-time Program provides graduate students an opportunity to build and master the skills needed for an exciting and rewarding career in Equity Research. You will collaborate with and learn from some of the most successful professionals in the industry. Analysts are placed directly on a desk, in Equity Research, with opportunities across the spectrum of sectors.

Training program

All new Equity Research Analysts participate in a Firmwide orientation which provides an overview of the Firm's businesses, as well as an opportunity to establish a Firmwide network and aids the transition from the academic to the corporate world. Equity Research Analysts will then attend divisional training which is delivered from both external specialists and internal Analysts covering topics such as financial analysis and modelling, making stock calls and developing proprietary insights.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about a specific industry, how to analyze the companies within a sector, and how to write to a specific audience.
  • Gather and analyze industry data to develop an industry-specific vision.
  • Update and build financial models on the companies and industry you follow.
  • Analyze emerging trends in an industry or macro-economy; assess relative stock valuations and review findings with senior team members and, ultimately, with internal and external clients.
  • Build relationships with global colleagues, salespeople, traders and over time, external investing clients.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You have strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • You are comfortable dealing with clients and work well on a team.
  • You have a natural intellectual curiosity, focus and creativity.
  • You have a keen research instinct and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • You have a strong interest in the financial markets and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Fluency in English is required. Asian languages are preferred in AP countries outside of Australia.
