Placement and duration

The Analyst Program begins in mid-July with direct placement on a desk within Economics. With a flat structure, the Analyst Program includes the opportunity to collaborate and learn from experienced professionals and to participate in practical workshops, a structured mentor-and-buddy program and organised social events.

Training program

Analysts begin with the Firmwide Institutional Securities training program in London with peers from Institutional Equity, Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Equity Research, Investment Management and Private Wealth Management. The training covers financial modelling, capital markets and enables Analysts to gain a broad understanding of each business in the Institutional Securities group. Analysts then undertake the Sales & Trading specific training, which generally consists of intensive IT training, Excel and desk-specific applications, practical skills sessions and Regulatory exam FCA preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the debate by expressing views and asking relevant questions, whilst keeping up to date with current affairs and internal research. The analyst will have the opportunity to use economic analytic skills to form an informed view
  • Gather and analyse economic data to develop an economic vision
  • Be able to organize and analyse large sets of data to distil information into clear summaries
  • Use creativity and problem-solving skills to respond to qualitative inquiries with quantitative results
  • Carry out requests and communicate knowledge to internal and external clients
  • Putting together presentations and undertaking research for medium-term projects

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You have an outstanding academic record with a minimum 2.1 honours degree or equivalent at undergraduate or master level and having studied Economics, Statistics, Econometrics or equivalent degree disciplines.
  • You have a keen interest in financial markets.
  • You have excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills.
  • You are a team player who excels in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • You have strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to summarise complex business problems and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity.
  • Good knowledge of empirical methods and proficiency in using Eviews.
  • Excellent IT skills related to data manipulation and interpretation.
