Corporate Affairs has responsibility for building and maintaining the Firm’s reputation. Specifically, they facilitate Morgan Stanley's communications with media audiences and employees, manage the Firm's core social responsibilities, which include volunteering and providing grants to charities, as well as overseeing all aspects of the brand, including advertising campaigns and sponsorships.
Corporate Services provides best-in-class commercial services for the Firm and our employees to enable productivity, efficiency and an enhanced employee experience. We deliver standardized services which can be scaled globally and delivered locally. The team manages a multi-billion dollar scope of services including Real Estate and Location Strategy; Real Estate Portfolio and Transaction Management; Property Management; Corporate Travel; Corporate Security & Investigations; Corporate Information Management; Regional Client Services; and Office of the COO.
Corporate Treasury manages our global financial resources to achieve our commercial objectives. The department engages with senior management, business units, and regulators to optimize our liquidity and capital positions. It ensures efficiency in accessing the unsecured funding markets and manages our foreign exchange and interest rate exposure. They help to keep us strong.
The Credit Risk Management department provides independent credit risk management and oversight for us and protects our capital. CRM’s in-depth knowledge of our clients, markets, and trading products, and its decisions on risk are crucial. CRM works closely with almost every division, giving its professionals unique insight into Morgan Stanley as a whole.
Operational Risk is the risk of damages to the Firm’s reputation due to internal or external events. Operational Risk Management works with the business units and control groups to help ensure Morgan Stanley has a transparent, consistent and comprehensive program for managing operational risk, both locally and across the Firm, globally.
The Firm Strategy & Execution (FSE) group, based in New York, supports senior Morgan Stanley decision-makers in strengthening our leadership in global financial services. The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 2,500 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to Firmwide risk management and risk reduction.
Morgan Stanley Human Resources provides advice and insight to attract, retain, reward and develop a talented global workforce, giving employees the support and tools they need to succeed. Our HR professionals partner with each of the firm's businesses to provide a full range of services including: human capital planning; creating strategies to attract, develop and reward employees; promoting a diverse workforce; fostering employee engagement; designing competitive pay and benefit plans; and proactively addressing employee matters.
Morgan Stanley’s Internal Audit Department includes financial, technology and risk auditors from around the world. The Department provides an independent review of the quality of our internal control, risk management, and governance systems and processes. The Internal Audit Department is a vital partner to senior management as they carry out their oversight responsibilities.
The Market Risk team manages all market risk exposures arising from our business activities. Each of its main groups serves a well-defined role: Risk Managers, Risk Analytics (including Model Review), Portfolio Analysis & Risk Reporting, COO and Information Technology. The team helps to minimize risk and maximize returns.
