Placement and duration

The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week program beginning in mid-June. Placements are based upon business needs, feedback throughout the interview process and the Analysts' interests.

Training program

The curriculum includes an orientation to the Firm, speaker seminars, daily work with on-the-job training and intern presentations to senior management. Summer Analysts also network with peers through lunch networking sessions and other social events.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary depending on placement within the following three groups:

  • Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Finance: Produce daily Profit & Loss (P&L) income statements for InstitutionalSales & Trading and Investment Banking businesses, and communicate the specific P&L drivers and balance sheet usage; support generation of business-level balance sheets; and support new businesses from an accounting perspective.
  • Corporate Reporting & Analysis: Provide value-add services and financial reporting to management; partner with andadvise internal clients to help them gain insight into cost drivers to better manage their businesses.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Review and analyze Morgan Stanley's books and records to ensure strong guardianship over the Firm's monthly financial reports; prepare and submit monthly income statement and balance sheet reporting for the Firm.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • You are interested in Accounting or studying for USCPA.
  • You are fluent in both Japanese and English.
  • You are skilled in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Access preferred.
  • You have a strong motivation to learn, are resourceful and able to take initiative.
  • You synthesize information, distill relevant facts and reach logical conclusions.
  • You are a team player and an excellent communicator.
