Placement and Duration

This programme is available in our Glasgow office and is a three year Apprenticeship within our Finance division, taken in line with study for the ACCA Foundation in Accounting (FIA) Diploma.

The ACCA FIA qualification provides students with practical accounting and financial skills whilst developing their grasp of business.  It is designed to give students expertise that they can use in the real world, an opportunity to learn the theory of accounting while putting it into practice too. Throughout your apprenticeship experience you will receive support from your manager and be entitled to full Morgan Stanley benefits.

Training Program

Your training curriculum will commence in your first week at Morgan Stanley. This will include an introduction to Morgan Stanley followed by technical and professional skills sessions. Throughout your apprenticeship, alongside your formal studies, you will be exposed to business speakers, practical sessions and have the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from your peers through various forums and events.

Responsibilities

Typical role tasks could include:

  • Preparation of file and reports for month-end and daily processes
  • Data gathering/data mining for reports
  • Reconciling trading desk daily profit and loss
  • Writing market commentaries for management reporting
  • Conducting reengineering projects to review and enhance processes
  • Using analytical tools to determine exposure to risk
  • Preparing monthly financial and management reports

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

You are working towards, or have achieved,  a minimum of 4 higher grades (or equivalent) at BBBC (1 sitting) or BBBB (2 sittings) including Mathematics and English. Mathematics must be grade B or higher.

  • You have excellent leadership, inter-personal, and strong verbal and written communications skills
  • You pay close attention to detail, have analytical and problem-solving skills, and are able to understand and evaluate information quickly
  • You are able to multi-task, prioritise accordingly and have excellent organisational skills
