Placement and duration

The Legal and Compliance Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week direct placement program that begins in June. The curriculum includes an orientation to the Firm, senior management speaker seminars, social and networking events to build Summer Analysts' professional networks. The Program also includes peer and senior mentors, and community service events.

Training program

The Summer Analyst Program includes a one-day Firmwide orientation, followed by one day of business unit-specific training. The remainder of the training is on the job.

To give the Summer Analyst a sense of what it's like to work in a fast paced environment like ours, they will be given substantive responsibilities with real impact. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Participating in compliance risk assessments and analysis of the compliance environment and controls for a line of business.
  • Conducting monitoring and surveillance of transactions, employee activities and communications.
  • Analyzing regulations, rules and various proposals; drafting and coordinating regulatory updates and compliance bulletins.
  • Reviewing and drafting policies, procedures and compliance manuals.
  • Conducting research, and assisting with, coordinating and responding to various regulatory inquiries and examinations.
  • Conducting due diligence (financial crimes concerns) reviews of clients during the account opening process.
  • Responding to inquiries from clients and collaborating with other groups.
  • Attending meetings with clients and regulators.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Track record of academic excellence.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize a variety of data to produce well-designed and meaningful summaries and reports.
  • Adept at solving problems and developing efficient processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Observing in-house legal professionals advising their business clients
