Placement and Duration

The Compliance Off-Cycle Program in Madrid runs between six months to two years and is aimed at recent graduates or students looking to complete a long-term internship as a compulsory or optional element of their degree program. The Compliance Off Cycle Intern will be placed directly within the Madrid Compliance Team and become an integral team member where they can build their business knowledge and expertise.

Training Program

The Compliance Off-Cycle Intern will receive considerable on-the-job training that features technical training, industry knowledge, and regular review meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all mandatory files as per applicable laws and filing systems for each lawyer/compliance officer.
  • Establish and maintain a filing process for easy retrieval, including electronic files.
  • Drafting of presentations for compliance training purposes or board meetings.
  • Typing and formatting of correspondence with regulatory authorities, company secretarial, legal documents, manuals and policies.
  • Photocopy and scan legal documents.
  • Organize documentation to be stored in firm legal electronic databases.
  • Organize templates of legal agreements.
  • Assist in the works of the external audits.
  • Assist in the elaboration and update of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing and formatting regulatory reports and responses to regulatory enquiries.
  • Ensure post is dealt with quickly and efficiently as lawyers/compliance officers are repository for general legal correspondence dealing with miscellaneous issues.
  • Provide support in various projects, implementation of new laws and regulations, company documents.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements

  • Comprehension of legal, regulatory and technical terminology of financial securities market and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good grasp of Spanish securities regulations and corporate law.
  • Well organized and able to adapt, solution oriented.
  • Excellent Spanish and English knowledge (written and spoken).
  • Good Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) knowledge.
  • Ability to perform duties pro-actively, reliably and accurately with minor supervision.
  • Ability to remain focused under pressure and prioritizes conflicting deadlines.
  • Proactive and with a hands-on attitude.
  • Enjoy teamwork and being a team player.
