VIDEO: Morgan Stanley Hosts African-American Men of Westchester’s Youth Annual Business Skills Competition

The African American Men of Westchester’s Annual Business Skills Competition brings high schools together to compete.

The African American Men of Westchester’s Annual Business Skills Competition was hosted by Morgan Stanley in Purchase, NY. The event, in mid-November, brought seventeen high schools from New York’s Westchester County together to compete against each other in a competition to judge teamwork, business knowledge, and presentation skills.

Keynote speaker, Jose Morales, encouraged the students to start making connections early in life.

Keynote speaker and Manager of Morgan Stanley’s Client Advisory Center, Jose Morales welcomed the students and encouraged them to start networking early in life. “Think about everybody along the way that allowed you to get here today. Make those connections. They will serve you well.”

Facilitators from Morgan Stanley worked with students on refining their strategy and confidently presenting their cases.

The students were given a case study where they were asked whether or not MegaBank, a fictional financial institution, should invest in Hydrofruit, a fictional tomato greenhouse, suspected of employing immigrant labor. Each teams worked with facilitators from Morgan Stanley to help them work on their cases and hone their presentations.

Students from Ardsley High School were crowned as the winners of the 2015 competition.

After spending a few hours working on the case study, the schools gathered in the auditorium to present their cases to the panel of judges. Students were given four minutes to present their case to the panel of judges. In the end, a group of students from Ardsley High School in Ardsley, NY were crowned as the winners of the 2015 competition.
