John Watt is a Senior Advisor for Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (“MSIP”). John brings more than 37 years of experience in infrastructure acquisition and asset management, addressing operating issues that include finance, regulatory and technical challenges. In addition to working with company management on strategic and operational issues, he provides leadership and direction on the boards of many of the portfolio companies.
Prior to joining MSIP, John was Director of the Infrastructure Group for Ontario Teachers Pension Plan, where he executed more than $5 billion of transactions in the energy & utilities space. He also served as Co-Chairman of the boards of both Northern Star Generation and InterGen NV. Prior to this, he held senior management roles at Ontario Power Generation, the government-owned power utility, and operating roles at TransAlta and Amoco, and has experience with the oil, gas and power sectors both as an investor and as an operator.
John holds an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario as well as a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
