Alan Jones is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, Senior Advisor to Morgan Stanley Capital Partners (MSCP) and Vice Chairman of Private Credit & Equity. He is based in New York and has 27 years of investing experience. Mr. Jones serves as a member of the Investment Committees for MSCP, Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia, Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure, and Morgan Stanley Credit Partners and is a member of the Executive Committee and Risk Committee for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) private funds. He also has served as a member of the Senior Management Committee of MSIM. Mr. Jones currently serves as a Director of CoAdvantage Inc., Hojeij Branded Foods, 24 Seven, Cadence Education, Fisher Container Corp., Access Cash and Smile America Partners. He has previously served as a Director of Creative Circle, EmployBridge, McKechnie Aerospace and Zenith.
From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Jones was Head of Corporate Finance at Morgan Stanley. From 2002 to 2005, he was Global Co-Head of the Financial Sponsors Group. From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Jones was Head of Global Leveraged Finance and from 2000 to 2001 served as Co-Head of Global Leveraged Finance. From 1997 to 2000, he was based in London, where he established and ran Morgan Stanley’s European Leveraged Finance Department, and where he served as a member of the European Investment Banking Division Operating Committee and as a Director of Morgan Stanley Bank (UK). From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Jones was based in New York and served as a coverage officer in Morgan Stanley’s US Financial Sponsors Group. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1993 after eight years at First Boston, where he had been a Director in the High Yield Finance Group. Mr. Jones has served as a member of the Investment Banking Division’s Operating Committee and Private Investment Committee. He has also served as Co-Chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Credit Commitment Committee.
Mr. Jones received an A.B. magna cum laude in biochemical sciences in 1983 from Harvard College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In 1987, he received an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
