Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced the appointment of Carlos Oyarbide as a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for China. Mr. Oyarbide will play a critical role in the development and execution of Morgan Stanley's China strategy and in strengthening the Firm's leading platform in this important market.
Mr. Oyarbide will report to the Firm’s China Chief Executive Officer, Wei Christianson, and assume the new role in July.
Mr. Oyarbide joins Morgan Stanley from Credit Suisse where he was a Managing Director and Asia Pacific Head of Financial Institutions Group since 2003. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he worked for Morgan Stanley for 10 years mostly in Europe and including an assignment in Hong Kong between 1999 and 2000. Throughout his career, he has advised on many landmark Chinese transactions including the restructuring and the initial public offerings of China Unicom, Sinopec, China Life, SMIC, CCB and ICBC.

Mr. Oyarbide received a Master in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business in 1983.
