Great Ormond Street Hospital

Morgan Stanley is pleased to announce its partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital beginning October 2007. This represents the first corporate fundraising partnership effort for GOSH.

Over the next three years, Morgan Stanley will raise funds toward the construction of a new clinical building, due to open in 2012. With several sections of the hospital in need of rebuilding over the next seven years, Morgan Stanley aims to raise £10mn, a substantial sum towards the total £146mn cost of the new clinical building.

Funds raised for the rebuilt clinical building will provide:

  • modern in-patient wards for children with acute and chronic conditions
  • state of the art operating theatres
  • enhanced diagnostic facilities
  • nurse-led transition care unit
  • neurosciences and renal services
  • care for more children annually

The redevelopment will allow the hospital to treat 20 percent more patients each year — giving an extra 20,000 children a better chance each year.

GOSH treats more than 100,000 patients a year and is a national center of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK. It is the only specialist biomedical research center for pediatrics, the largest center in the UK for children with heart or brain problems and the largest center in Europe for children with cancer.

The partnership with GOSH extends Morgan Stanley’s efforts to create centers of pediatric excellence around the world that will broaden access to best-of-breed medical care for underserved populations. For more than 30 years, Morgan Stanley has invested in pediatric care innovation, so that greater numbers of children can get the healthy start they need for consistent and meaningful achievement in life. In addition to partnering with Great Ormond Street Hospital and founding the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, we are pleased to be the first major corporate supporter of Grow Clinics, which are specialty operations that target families with children suffering from medical complications associated with malnourishment, primarily due to poverty.
