 Junior 8 (J8)
Junior 8 ("J8") is the Morgan Stanley International Foundation's flagship programme. It is the official youth event of the G8 Summit and has been developed and funded by the MSI Foundation and UNICEF. In 2007, J8 is being hosted by the German G8 Presidency. J8 aims to advance young people's understanding of global issues and to provide a platform for them to discuss these issues with some of the most powerful leaders in the world.
The programme consists of four main components:
Education programme: online education resources on global issues available to teachers and students throughout the G8 countries.
J8 Competition: groups of students from G8 countries present their ideas on the G8 agenda topics.
J8 Summit: winning teams participate in the annual J8 Summit to discuss their ideas on the G8 topics.
J8 Communique: summit participants present their ideas in a joint Communique to the G8 leaders.
