Your Opportunity as a Summer Intern in Technology

An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit

The Technology internship programme is designed to develop highly motivated technologists and serves as a pipeline to the Full-Time Analyst Programme. Opportunities exist in Budapest and London for full-time 10 week summer internships and Budapest also offers part-time internships throughout the academic year.

Interns are recruited and placed into challenging roles across Technology and work on live projects, solving technology problems that are unique to a market-leading financial institution.  Candidates have an opportunity to be considered for our development and infrastructure teams based on their academic experience/background and skills sets demonstrated throughout the interview process.

Development Teams

Our development teams are tasked with designing, developing and maintaining applications used by our business units. Daily activities include meeting with clients to gather and analyze requirements; making system design decisions; evaluating, integrating and developing necessary software; and testing and deploying applications to production. Developing high performing low latency electronic trading systems across multiple asset classes, providing sophisticated risk management analytics and systems, and evolving complex workflows and life-cycle management capabilities across increasingly sophisticated products are just some of the many projects available for developers within our technical organizations.

Infrastructure Teams

Our infrastructure facing teams are tasked with developing systems to run our business. Our engineers provide tools, applications and platforms such as the Firm's networks, computing hardware, operating systems, and databases for the Firm's trading applications, communication applications and other end user applications. As a large and global environment, these teams are tasked with providing applications that span the breadth of the Firm in an efficient manner. Engineering the Firm's websites, managing the Windows plant, and developing a client reporting delivery system are some of the projects available for infrastructure engineers in our organizations.

The Intern Program
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect

The program begins with an introduction to the securities business, including an overview of the technical environment, systems and infrastructure.

A speaker series provides Interns with the perfect forum to learn and discuss emerging trends and developments in technology and finance with senior managers from the firm. To smooth the transition from classroom to the corporate environment, Summer Interns are typically paired with Morgan Stanley employees who serve as mentors. In many instances, mentor relationships continue well beyond the end of the program. Moreover, frequent social activities throughout the internship allow for networking opportunities with officers, associates and peers. Regular evaluations keep your learning and progress on track.

Requirements

A degree in any subject is considered and you must have a demonstrated interest in technology. A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related science or engineering discipline is particularly relevant. Consideration for our training programme requires a 2.1 honours degree (United Kingdom) or equivalent.

Selection Process

Candidates are asked to submit an online application and those selected after first-round interviews will be invited to attend an on-site Assessment Centre, which is our final round of evaluation.
