Your work will be both qualitative and quantitative, and you can make an important contribution to our research products, which have significant influence on our institutional, retail and internal clients. You will gain exposure to Research by working in one specific sector on a variety of projects. Past projects have included industry, company, and market research and analysis, as well as taking part in the publication of research reports and presentations. Along with your project work, you will experience the day-to-day life of an Associate. You may sit through an earnings season with your team and see how that affects the calls made on stocks under coverage. You may also have the chance to sit in on meetings and conference calls with Sales & Trading to see how your work is being used in the firm. All of your work will be guided by your Lead Analyst, who is the firm's industry expert. The Junior Associate Program in Research The Summer Junior Research Associate Program is ten weeks long. The program also includes an initial week of training and orientation to Morgan Stanley as a whole. Some of your typical roles and responsibilities include:
Launching Your Career The Summer Junior Associate Program begins with training and development curriculum to equip you with the fundamental skills and professional awareness you will need to be successful. Training includes financial analysis and modeling overviews, as well as larger presentations from business leaders. Along with formal training, you may be assigned a mentor when you arrive at the firm. The mentor is a senior-level person in the division, but not someone with whom you will be working directly. This person can help guide your career, prepare you for what's ahead and assist you with career planning. Traditionally, mentoring relationships last years and may make a difference in your career. Developing Your Career The Summer Junior Associate Program provides ongoing training enabling you to strengthen or gain skills throughout your professional career. The program is kept small in number to ensure that each Summer Junior Research Associate receives substantial one-on-one attention. There are many opportunities to network with senior management and other representatives from Research through lunches, seminars and social activities. Summer Junior RAs also receive significant support from program managers and mentors. Mid-summer reviews are given to assess your performance, enabling you to improve throughout the summer.
