 Your Opportunity as an Analyst in Operations

An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit

The Global Wealth Management Analyst Program in Private Wealth Management is a competitive 24 month non-rotational program.  The Analyst program kicks off in early July with a comprehensive orientation and training program designed to help Analysts become acclimated to the firm.  Private Wealth Management provides highly customized financial advice, investment solutions and brokerage services to individuals, families and foundations most with $20 million or more in investable assets. We specialize in providing our ultra high net worth clients custom-tailored financial solutions and a level of sophistication and access to expertise and investments typically reserved for large corporations, financial institutions and governments.

Analysts in PWM will be placed into one of three specific tracks and will work closely with product and trading specialists from across the firm to gain a thorough understanding of the uses and applications of sophisticated financial tools and the full range of Morgan Stanley financial products. 

Roles and responsibilities may vary slightly by track but typically include:

  • Business Development and Strategy - Support the generation and implementation of strategic initiates and policies throughout the Global PWM organization which includes North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia
  • Sales - Working in one of PWM’s regional offices supporting Investment Representative teams focusing on analytics and portfolio Determining the factors surrounding and defining the client’s wealth, including personal / family objectives, family structure, investment knowledge, sources of wealth, structure of financial holdings, and liquidity needs
  • Products and Services -  Analysts in this track may work within the Investment Group (IG) - formulating strategies to meet the client’s goals and objectives, and identifying appropriate asset classes and specific investments in the investor’s portfolio; the Wealth Strategies Group - Integrated Wealth Analysis and Structuring, Estate tax planning, income tax planning, trust and insurance solutions, and stock option taxation and analytics; the Business Control Group focusing on Compliance regulations, surveillance, development enhancement and oversight on all Advisory Accounts

Requirements

Requirements include an undergraduate degree with a relevant major such as business or economics, a minimum 3.5 GPA, and a keen interest in the financial services industry. A resume that shows work experience in a related field is also required.

Selection Process

Depending on your school, interviews may take place on campus or at Morgan Stanley. Interviews are conducted by senior managers, former Analyst Program participants, and Human Resources. Successful candidates can expect two to three rounds of interviews.
