Your Opportunity as an Analyst in Sales & Trading
An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit

Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading Analyst class is treated as a top priority because we know it will produce the future generation of leaders for the firm. Analysts have the opportunity to develop and master the analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills they will need to succeed. The division’s flat organizational structure and open trading floor allow Analysts opportunities to collaborate with more experienced colleagues and learn from senior Sales & Trading professionals. The fast-paced, intense environment requires an aptitude for quickly analyzing and interpreting complex information.

The Analyst Program in Sales & Trading
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect

Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading division has a two-year Analyst Program. While the program is for two years, many of our outstanding Analysts are asked to stay on to continue a full career at Morgan Stanley.

Within the different business functions the following roles exist for Analysts joining the program:

  • The Sales & Trading Consolidated Equity Track Analyst Program would give you a platform of skills, knowledge and tools to begin making an immediate impact on the trading floor. Combining intensive training with practical and on-the-job coaching from experienced professionals, the program gives you a broad introduction to the equities markets and each of our product groups before selecting an area or product in which to specialize.
  • The Sales and Trading Fixed Income Track Program is designed to introduce you to various aspects of Fixed Income businesses while providing firsthand desk experience and exposure through rotations.  It includes a few weeks Firmwide Training and three desk rotations in Tokyo.  At each desk, you will receive on the job training and will be given opportunities to learn various products and become involved in the day-to-day business activities.

  • The SPG Analyst Program begins with a comprehensive training program that usually features financial product and market-knowledge training, product talks and professional development classes, bond math and credit analysis. Analysts may also benefit from networking opportunities with peers and colleagues and enjoy daily exposure to senior managers through information sessions and other organized events. A mentor may provide another source of support and guidance, particularly in the areas of career development and extending contacts around the firm.

Morgan Stanley is challenged and committed to developing our next generation of leaders. When an Analyst joins the firm, he/she becomes part of the team with an important role. As a result, many of our outstanding Analysts are asked to stay on and continue a career at Morgan Stanley.

We believe in mentoring programs to support career growth. Analysts are assigned a mentor to help ease their transition from academia to the corporate environment. Mentors can provide career guidance, serve as a sounding board, and connect Analysts to the broader Morgan Stanley network.

Mobility is an important part of building a Morgan Stanley career, and analysts are encouraged to consider opportunities globally.

Additional training throughout the year is offered in order to enhance product knowledge as well as develop professional skills. We also encourage Analysts to take financial examinations, such as CFA and the GMAT, if they are interested in Graduate school.

The Sales & Trading Analysts have formed a community service network in which they volunteer at various charitable organizations.

Morgan Stanley is committed to invest in Analysts and help them build a career at the firm. Analysts are the future leaders of the firm.
