The Global Wealth Management Analyst Program is a unique opportunity to learn about multiple aspects of a key Morgan Stanley business while becoming engaged in one of the most dynamic aspects of the financial services world. The Global Wealth Management Group is a business focused on growth and becoming a market leader.  The Full-Time Analyst Program in Global Wealth Management
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect

The Global Wealth Management Analyst Program is a competitive two-year program comprised of three eight-month rotations. The rotations generally consist of positions in various business units including Managed Money, Liabilities, Accounts and Services, Capital Markets, Insurance and Planning Solutions, Retirement Solutions, the Private Wealth Management Group, and National Sales.

The rotational program is based in our Westchester, NY headquarters, with rotations also possible in Jersey City, NJ and New York, NY.

Global Wealth Management also offers a two-year non-rotational Analyst program within the GWM Fixed Income Group. Morgan Stanley is a global leader in Fixed Income products providing individuals, corporations, and governments around the world with a wide range of services. Within GWMG Fixed Income, employees perform the functions of sales, trading, research, structuring, and finance. Analysts are responsible for facilitating and promoting sales/trading activity in GWMG Fixed Income with Branch Financial Advisors.

The non-rotational program is based out of our Westchester, NY headquarters.

Some of the responsibilities of Analysts may include:

  • Conducting research and analysis on competitor product and service offerings
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Observing financial advisor training sessions
  • Assisting with project planning, project management, requirements gathering, documentation, and business analysis
  • Assessing and providing solutions for enhancing sales metrics

Upon successful completion of the two-year Analyst Program, top-performing Analysts may be given the opportunity to find positions within GWMG to continue their careers.

Launching Your Career
The initial training that you receive on starting the program

The program commences with an intensive two-week orientation of specific training that covers the GWMG, the firm-wide organizations and Morgan Stanley’s culture. You would then rotate through product and strategy groups throughout the GWMG organization in the New York area, performing a variety of analytical and project-related roles.

In addition to the training, the Analyst experience typically includes the Professional Development Series, project-based experience in assigned business units, and engagement with senior management. A mentorship program further complements the Analyst Program. Mentors are comprised of senior business leaders as well as Analyst Program participants. Post-program mentorship opportunities continue and are strongly encouraged.

Developing Your Career

High-performing Analysts can anticipate placement in a variety of GWMG roles including product groups and strategic functions. The experience may also include an opportunity to gain exposure to both corporate and branch-related activities.

Requirements

Requirements include an undergraduate degree with a relevant major such as business or economics, a minimum 3.2 GPA, and a keen interest in the financial services industry. A resume that shows work experience in a related field is also required.

Selection Process

Depending on your school, interviews may take place on campus or at Morgan Stanley. Interviews are conducted by senior managers, former Analyst Program participants, and Human Resources. Successful candidates can expect two to three rounds of interviews.

 The Summer Analyst Program in Global Wealth Management
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect

The Global Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program runs for 10 weeks. You can be placed in a product or strategy group throughout the GWMG organization in the New York area and take on various analytical and project-related roles. Placements generally consist of positions in various business units including Managed Money, Liabilities, Accounts and Services, Capital Markets, Insurance and Planning Solutions, Retirement Solutions, the Private Wealth Management Group, and National Sales.

You can also apply to be placed in the GWMG Fixed Income Group based out of our Westchester, NY headquarters. As a GWMG Fixed Income Summer Analyst, you will assist in facilitating and promoting sales/trading activity in GWMG Fixed Income with Branch Financial Advisors. Summer Analysts in GWMG Fixed Income are placed on a specific desk for the majority of the summer, allowing them to gain an in-depth understanding of the role that an Analyst can play within the Division. Summer Analysts also rotate to various desks with the Division to provide them with broad exposure to the diverse products and functions throughout the GWMG Fixed Income Group.

Some of the responsibilities of Summer Analysts may include:

  • Conducting research and analysis on competitor product and service offerings
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Observing financial advisor training sessions
  • Assisting with project planning, project management, requirements gathering, documentation, and business analysis
  • Assessing and providing solutions for enhancing sales metrics

Analyst Program offers may be extended to Summer Analysts. Offers are based upon performance during the summer program and a thorough interview process.

Requirements

Requirements include work towards an undergraduate degree with a relevant major such as business or economics, a minimum 3.2 GPA, and a keen interest in the financial services industry. A resume that shows work experience in a related field is a plus. Open to students entering their senior year of college.
