A DAY IN THE LIFE
I chose to start my career in Financial Services because…
of the collaborative and team-oriented culture and the fast pace of the markets.
I chose Global Capital Markets…
because of the people. The department leverages my strengths while helping
me develop new skills. Senior leaders treat me as an equal colleague and
student simultaneously; they talk about the broader picture and facilitate
my development and also make me feel like a valued team member.
As a Global Capital Markets Analyst…
I’ve enhanced my expertise in financing structures,
product features and valuation techniques. Hard work, decision making, dedication,
strong communication skills and working well under pressure are all critical.
A typical day…
doesn’t exist; it’s about responding to the markets. I usually start
by reading about the markets and checking news about my team’s clients.
Once registered and licensed, I update clients on the markets and current pricing
terms. I conduct financial analysis and prepare for client meetings to discuss
alternatives for their funding needs. The days are busy—I might work on
10 projects at any time, which I find exciting. I need to constantly use
my judgment and decision making skills to deliver value to our clients. After
the markets close, I work on presentation materials and analyses for our clients.
Many former analysts have gone on to…
become associates within GCM if successful or transfer to other areas of the
firm such as Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Research.
