A DAY IN THE LIFE
I selected a career in Investment Banking…
to learn business dynamics and hone my entrepreneurial interests. I enjoy the
intellectually challenging, methodical nature of the work—instead of
rushing into decisions, I seek out various solutions and analyze all angles. As
one of the top firms in M&A (mergers and acquisitions), underwriting
equity and related issues, and corporate debt and high-yield debt financing,
Morgan Stanley was the perfect place to start my career.
As an Investment Banking Analyst…
you need attention to detail, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, mental
stamina and a strong work ethic. I enjoy exercising judgment and discretion
on important work for the firm. I’ve developed an expertise in
corporate finance modeling and gained exposure to a variety of product areas
and industry sectors.
The best part of my job is…
having an active role on the team with real responsibility and getting to learn
from the industry’s best. I’m expected to walk senior team members
through my modeling and valuation assumptions and to actively participate in
discussions about marketplace-shaping deals.
Many former Analysts have gone on to…
become Investment Banking Associates after three years, if successful as Analysts.
