A DAY IN THE LIFE

I chose to start my career in Financial Services because...
I liked the idea of working on a live project.  It was a great opportunity to gain real experience, own responsibility across the technology lifecycle, work with industry leaders and launch my career.

I selected the Technology division because...
the interviews impressed me. They were so technical and everyone I met, regardless of level, had a strong technical background. Morgan Stanley was the first in the industry to develop an iPad app and Android equity research app. Additionally, I was impressed with the strong partnership between the Technology group and leading software corporations.

As a Technologist...
I needed to come in with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and technical skills. However, I learned so much on the job through training, exposure to emerging technologies and team projects. There are different types of technologists, each with different requirements. Developers need experience with at least one programming language, whereas those in engineering positions need experience with operating systems, computing hardware and related technology. Business analysts need to understand the technology life cycle and identify process improvements.

The best part of my job is...
working on a global team. I like getting the full scope of a project. As a developer, I'm involved in the full life cycle of programming, designing, developing and testing the latest software.
