A DAY IN THE LIFE
I chose to start my career in Financial Services because...
I wanted the challenge and hands-on opportunity to learn and grow professionally.
This industry is fast-paced—every day I learn more from the challenging
issues I handle and from the people around me.
I selected Human Resources...
because I'm interested in people and what motivates them. I enjoy solving problems
and helping our people better serve clients—our team is what gives the
firm its competitive edge.
As a Human Resources Analyst...
you need excellent judgment, flexibility, communication and teamwork skills
from day one. The ability to multitask while paying close attention to detail
is also paramount. Morgan Stanley taught me to think creatively by generating
quantitative and qualitative ideas for my clients. I collaborate with colleagues
to add value and identify the best solution.
A typical day...
varies greatly. I spend my mornings checking email and prioritizing tasks,
and then balancing any ad hoc requests with my daily responsibilities and the
monthly and weekly deliverables. One of the great things about the HR program
is that my classmates work across all different areas of the division. In my
data analyst role, I focus on providing up-to-the-minute data analysis for
the Campus and Lateral Recruiting groups. My daily work plays an important
role in crafting our firmwide recruiting strategy. My work schedule is
constantly changing, and I need to multitask on a daily basis.
Many former Human Resources analysts have gone on to...
more senior roles within the HR Department.
