A DAY IN THE LIFE
I selected Bank Resource Management because…
I was interested in learning how Morgan Stanley manages its own
financial resources; gaining exposure to both the Fixed Income and
Equity Markets; and working with hedge funds, institutional investors,
banks and mutual funds
As a Bank Resource Management analyst…
I learned how to meet client demand through a variety of trade structures,
collateral types and pricing formats. I now understand the process behind
how we lend to hedge fund clients, as well as how various desks provide funding
for the firm. I am counted on to regularly exercise good judgment and discretion
on important work for the firm. Having an analytical mind and excellent
communication skills were key.
A typical day…
starts with a 6:30 a.m. review of overnight trade activity and market updates
or speaking with lenders to understand trends across our various held securities.
Afternoons may include analyzing and making decisions with respect to
loans or short sales with hedge fund clients. After the markets close, I develop
end-of-day activity debriefs, manage our books and follow up with clients
on unresolved issues.
Many Bank Resource Management analysts go on to…
new positions within Bank Resource Management or the larger Sales and Trading
Division.
