Human Resources

Summer Analyst Program

A DAY IN THE LIFE

I selected Human Resources...
because I'm interested in people and organizations and wanted to see if HR would be a good fit. I enjoy problem solving and wanted to put those skills to use in a global business.

As a Human Resources Summer Analyst...
skills needed include  attention to detail, good judgment, flexibility, communication, teamwork and multitasking. I learned to take on new challenges by collaborating with my colleagues and to develop solutions that add value, rather than working to simply complete a task. I learned hands-on how Human Resources operates within the financial services industry. I owned real responsibility on my team and had access to valuable networking opportunities and connections that lasted into my full-time role.

A typical day...
involved managing requests from my team. My team's daily work played an important role in crafting our firmwide recruiting strategy. In my Data Analytics role, I supported my team's efforts of providing up-to-the-minute data analysis for the Campus and Lateral Recruiting groups. I participated daily in a variety of events, including networking events and a speaker series. My work schedule was constantly changing, and I needed to multitask on a daily basis.

The best part of my summer experience at Morgan Stanley was...
my project, which allowed me to own my work, gain exposure to different teams of people across all levels, conduct research on a topic important to the division and learn to present information. It was an all-around unique and rewarding experience!
