Morgan Stanley broke into the top 50 on Stonewall's Annual Workplace Equality Index, which highlights the U.K.'s top employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual people. The Firm ranked 45 in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers List for 2012, up 82 places from last year's ranking and the fifth most improved organization overall in the Top 100.

The Firm's U.K. office in Canary Wharf has been a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions program since 2003, developing a best–practice approach in addressing sexual–orientation issues in the workplace in partnership with its U.K. LGBT employee network, GLEAMS (Gay and Lesbian Employees at Morgan Stanley).

Participants in the survey completed a lengthy questionnaire–based submission with detailed supporting evidence on all of the evaluation criteria. Stonewall also sought feedback directly from GLEAMS members.

Morgan Stanley was among only three investment banks that made the top 100, out of the ten who made submissions, and was also featured in the banking and finance sector's top five.

The Firm was also among 10 organizations profiled as leaders in a particular area. Stonewall selected the Firm's reverse mentoring/allies program to profile as an affirmation of Morgan Stanley's commitment to diversity and commended GLEAMS as a Star Performer Network.
