Energy Risk magazine named Morgan Stanley Structured Products House of the Year 2009 at its recent annual awards ceremony.

"Morgan Stanley's commodity structured products offering has guided clients through tumultuous financial and commodity markets by continuously delivering innovative and effective structures," wrote the editors.

At the same ceremony, Morgan Stanley also received the 15-Year Ranking of Rankings award. This was one of two awards given to mark 15 years of Energy Risk's Annual Rankings, in which industry participants globally rank dealers across a wide range of commodity categories. Morgan Stanley has been the top-ranked dealer in the most categories over the last 15 years, a testament to the Firm's consistency in providing outstanding service to its commodities clients.

Energy Risk singled out the Morgan Stanley's structuring team for dedication to its institutional, individual and corporate clients - having completed more than 50 deals in Europe and Asia and more than 75 in the U.S. in the past year.

In addition, they cited the Firm for its physical and financial market presence allowing Morgan Stanley to become one of the first banks to offer investors exposure to coal as part of a basket-allocation structured product, shifting the focus from more traditional oil or gas allocations.

Earlier this year, Energy Risk Magazine, in its annual Energy Risk Commodity Rankings, named Morgan Stanley Commodities the Top Dealer Overall and Top Electricity Dealer Overall.
