The survey asked employees of 62 of the best companies in Japan what they thought of their employers. The Great Place to Work Institute looks for signs that employees are not just satisfied with such aspects as compensation or benefits, but also feel trusted, motivated and proud of what they do.

Some of the highlights of what employees in the Firm's Japanese operations said:

• 81 percent of employees said the Firm was a great place to work.
• 87 percent are proud to work for Morgan Stanley.

• 82 percent are confident they can count on people to cooperate.
• 80 percent think people are willing to give extra to get the job done.

The survey gave employees the opportunity to respond to questions about their workplace with anonymous and frank answers. The poll focuses on five areas: the credibility of management, the respect of employees, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
